Position Summary

The Electrical Designer Level II assists with electrical drawing packages and submittals, creates electrical & pneumatic design, models, component sizing and specifications, and part detailing. They also create electrical schematics, bill of materials, spare parts lists, and As-Builts drawings. This role involves performing electrical assembly drawings, assisting the design team, ensuring designs meet American Equipment's standards, and conducting crane wiring, fabrication shop inspections, and quality checks.

They are responsible for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to maintain AEH standards, local codes, project specs, and industry codes. Additionally, they perform 3D electrical design work and assist with redlines and project documentation, including submittals, operation and maintenance manuals. They ensure designs are cost-effective and meet American Equipment’s standards, read and understand customer requirements, and learn, utilize, and implement continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, TOC, 6S, APICS, and 80/20. They also perform root cause analysis on shop problems and keep accurate time records for each job.

They assist with any other responsibilities assigned by the Design Manager and Lead Designer and receive additional training on drafting and design of cranes.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Working knowledge of electrical power distribution, motor control centers, Electrical Code and Electrical Control Systems

  • AutoCAD, SolidWorks Schematics, SolidWorks 3D Elec (helpful)

  • Familiar with NEC, CMAA, ANSI/ASME, OSHA, MHI Codes and requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, preferred

  • Journeyman or 2-yr Journeyman apprentice experience with panel wiring experience

  • 2+ years of crane design experience, preferred

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
