Design Engineer III - Water Resources

About the role

Wallace Montgomery is seeking a Water Resources engineer with at least 5 years of professional experience to work in our Fairfax or Richmond, Virginia office. This individual will be exposed to a variety of project types, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. The Design Engineer III will work on complex projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering design, studies, and reports.
• Determine and review appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria.
• Participate in and review the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings, and estimates.
• Prepare construction contract documents including final design details, construction drawings, specifications, and estimates.
• Participate in presentations such as public meetings.
• Monitor current design trends and methodologies related to their area of expertise.
• Assist in training new employees in using CADD software.
• Client contact on a limited basis.
• Field work as a team member for inspections and research for projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineering License required (Virginia preferred).
• 5-10 years of experience.
• VDOT experience preferred.
