About the Role
The Design Engineer I represents a high level of technical expertise to internal and external customers in design assistance, education, and enabling customers to do business with ScanSource. This role focuses on Network Technologies and acts as a trusted advisor to the company's customers, guiding them through designing comprehensive solutions that include hardware, software, and licensing.
Responsibilities
- Researches, recommends, and evaluates customer requirements to ensure the needs of Business Partners and End Users are satisfied.
- Prepares configurations via vendor configuration tools with appropriate pricing estimates distributed to all concerned parties.
- Applies broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in Communication Technology.
- Creates technical content for sales enablement and marketing.
- Attends supplier and partner conferences as needed.
- Participates in customer enablement programs.
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of prior related experience and Avaya small/mid market Design certification. Experience with Enterprise is a plus.
- Experience with the following technologies: Avaya/Mitel.
- Technical documentation, business analysis, and/or technical writing experience is a plus.
- Work history of consultative sales and/or partner-facing roles.
- Proven ability to gather and understand customer requirements, business objectives, and success criteria, then build holistic solutions to meet those needs.
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree.
- Relevant recent Communication certifications (Avaya/Mitel, etc.).
- Experience in distribution or working for a partner/reseller.
Physical Requirements
- May require sitting at a computer for long periods of time.
- Minimal lifting may be required.
- Must be physically present at the designated company office location during normal business hours.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
Pay
Base salary range: $46,000 - $61,000. Total compensation range: $50,000 - $65,000. Actual annual salary offered will be based on work experience, education, skills, and achievements.
