Design-Construction Buildings Project Manager - State Prog Admin Coordinator
This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor and will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
About the role
You will perform as the design and construction project manager for State of Minnesota, Department of Transportation Building Services Section facility construction projects. Provide project leadership for statewide projects while working with MnDOT District staff, internal and external architects/engineers, construction contractors, and other project team members and stakeholders from the beginning of each project through completion, including scoping and programming, design, bidding and procurement, construction, and post-construction phases.
MnDOT does not sponsor applicants for visas or Optional Practical Training for STEM students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee complex building construction projects, including all five phases of construction project management: pre-design, design, procurement, construction, and post occupancy.
- Lead multiple complex new construction, addition, renovation, remodeling, and repair/replacement projects simultaneously.
- Evaluate project plans and deliverables; direct professional staff on changes and modifications; and verify compliance with customer/user requirements.
- Manage cost and budgeting principles to ensure consultants, contractors, suppliers, and vendors provide fair value services and materials.
- Determine, communicate, and translate directives and functions to project architects, engineers, building specialists, contractors, suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Apply International Building Code (as adopted by the State of Minnesota) to construction projects.
- Provide "responsible-in-charge" construction project management experience.
Requirements
- Three years of advanced professional experience overseeing complex building construction projects with at least two projects at a total construction cost value of $5,000,000 or higher. Include the construction cost in your resume.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction science, architecture, or engineering will substitute for 6 months of advanced professional work experience.
- Advanced experience with architectural, engineering, or construction project management of commercial or industrial building projects, emphasizing varied institutional, industrial, or commercial facilities design and construction.
- Experience with construction and construction project management principles, practices, standards, and methods.
- Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years or more of responsible-in-charge construction project management experience.
- Project management experience with sustainably designed projects, preferably with B3 project experience.
Pay
$37.91 - $56.39 / hourly; $79,156 - $117,742 / annually
Schedule
- Full-time, unlimited (permanent) position.
- Days: Monday - Friday.
- Work Shift: Daytime hours.
