Design Associate

About the role

The CAD Design Associate at Mohawk Industries is responsible for creating proposals, seaming diagrams, and flooring layouts. This position works closely with the sales staff, internal departments, and clients to develop installation plans that benefit both the customer and the company.

Responsibilities

• Create and edit proposals with accuracy and speed using custom software.
• Follow instructions from management, sales, and/or customers to complete projects and assignments.
• Understand and adhere to manufacturing guidelines for product installations.
• Generate accurate takeoff quantities for flooring products and accessories.
• Use artistic skills and design principles to develop exclusive visuals for desired flooring products and prepare layouts for client approval.
• Present layout design concepts via phone, web, and in-person in a polished professional manner.
• Aware of current trends in flooring and occasionally develop design and color schemes for specific customers and layouts.
• Develop fundamental knowledge of functional practice, policy, and day-to-day execution requirements.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
• 0-2 years’ relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Expertise with AutoCAD is required, and Callidus flooring software is preferred.
• Basic working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel 1-2 times a year internationally to Asia when required.

• Applies conceptual knowledge of the theories, practices, and procedures within a discipline.
• Excellent math, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
