Design Associate

About the role

Assists Design Consultant in scheduling, preparing, and following up on design services with Havertys customers. Attends clients’ homes with Design Consultant to ensure proper furniture placement and color coordination, recommends additional furniture and accessories, and supports in-store engagements and appointments. May also receive on-the-floor sales training to understand the Havertys customer engagement process. Travel across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex to all Havertys locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule or attend qualified home visits with Design Consultant and/or Sales Consultant; evening and weekend availability required to match customer schedules.
• Visit customers’ homes alongside Design Consultant to assist with all aspects of in-home consultations.
• Build personalized presentations using approved templates and SWAGGER displays, including color schemes, furniture placement, visual samples, room plans, and accessories.
• Draw floor plans using Havertys.com’s current floor-planner software.
• Provide feedback to Design Consultant, Sales Consultant, and management after each home visit, upon completion of floor plans, and post-purchase presentations.
• Assist Sales Consultant with creation of special-order SKUs and sales reserves.
• Create in-store floor plans to help clients visualize purchases and close sales.
• Offer constructive feedback to Design Consultant to build sales and increase average ticket.
• Maintain knowledge of special sales, financing plans, delivery procedures, and warranties.
• Reinforce customer selections and help bring sales to closure.
• Use My Sales Center to access and follow up with customers.
• Maintain broad knowledge of furniture styles and products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field, or 2–4 years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ASID certification preferred.
• Current valid driver’s license with clean driving record; must provide personal transportation to customer in-home appointments.
• Reliable transportation with verification of minimum state-required car insurance.
• Knowledge of email, Room Planner software, Microsoft Office components, internet software, and Full-shot image ware.

Physical Demands

• Frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and/or move more than 20 pounds.
