Two temporary AmeriCorps positions available through the Iowa Community Corps program at DMARC Southside Food Pantry in Des Moines, IA.

About the Role

As a Food Pantry Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll help ensure pantry guests receive personalized, dignified support while strengthening resource navigation, volunteer engagement, and day-to-day pantry operations at one of DMARC’s busiest sites.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and support pantry visitors through intake and resource navigation
• Help identify ways to improve pantry layout, signage, and visitor flow
• Recruit, onboard, and support volunteers
• Develop volunteer feedback tools and training materials
• Partner with staff on outreach and community engagement projects

Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Read, write, type, and communicate in English
• Comfort engaging with diverse communities
• Customer service experience
• Bilingual/multilingual skills a plus

Pay

Living allowance: $6,000

Schedule

~16 hours per week, Monday–Friday, between 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

Term: September 25, 2026 – May 6, 2027
