Community of Christ Central Congregation in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro area is seeking a full-time Youth/Young Adult Pastor. About the Role
This position is a calling to partner with the Lead Pastor in creating engaging, meaningful experiences that embody the mission and values of the Community of Christ. Youth and young adults are a vital part of the Church’s present, and this role focuses on empowering them through spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and dynamic programming.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead regular Young Adult/Youth activities and group meetings
- Plan and participate in special events such as retreats, camps, and community outreach
- Provide pastoral care and guidance to young adults, youth, and their families
- Teach youth/young adult classes
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for youth programs
- Collaborate with church members, leaders, and priesthood to create a vision for dynamic youth groups and meaningful worship experiences
- Work with the Lead Pastor to innovate and take risks in ministry
- Create and manage the youth/young adult ministry budget
- Communicate consistently with young adults, youth, and parents about upcoming events and activities
- Develop outreach programs to engage unchurched youth and young adults in the community
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all youth
- Encourage youth/young adult participation in church services and activities
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make necessary adjustments
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (seminary degree valued but not required)
- Experience working with youth/young adults in a church or related setting
- Ordained priesthood member in the Community of Christ or seminary graduate
- Ability to consistently participate in worship experiences and key Mission Center events
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Community of Christ
- Personal faith and willingness to share your faith journey and testimony
- Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend activities
- Ability to pass a background check
- Completion of Registered Youth Worker/Anti-harassment Training within 30 days of hire (required annually thereafter)
