Iowa Community Corps

About the role

The Iowa Community Corps is an AmeriCorps program at the Iowa Department of Health & Human Services. Members receive a living allowance and education award for their service, while gaining a professional network and leadership skills to forge a successful career in community health.

Responsibilities

• Support programs that increase access to nutritious foods
• Connect individuals and families to public health resources available in their communities
• Engage community members in service and develop strong volunteer programs
• Address the youth mental health crisis in America through the Youth Mental Health Corps
• Increase citizen engagement through organizing service days and events
• Encourage and promote volunteerism
• Develop collaborative relationships between organizations and citizens
• Develop new programs or services
• Improve efficiency or effectiveness of services
• Conduct research and asset mapping to strengthen an organization’s ability to meet community needs
• Become a Community Health Worker and connect individuals to food, healthcare, and other essential resources

Requirements

Members must be at least 18 years old and not older than 99 years old.
