Dermatology Division Chief (Associate or Professor of Medicine)

About the role

The UCF Department of Medicine is seeking a visionary dermatologist to lead the newly formed Dermatology Division. The successful candidate will be appointed at the associate professor or professor rank in the clinical or tenure tracks.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and lead multiple general dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery faculty for the UCF Health Faculty Practice.
• Collaborate with faculty in other COM specialties to establish clinical programs of excellence.
• Optimize the operational performance of the Division's faculty to deliver superior medical care.
• Expand clinical and translational research with a focus on hypothesis-driven studies and sponsored trials.
• Facilitate the start of a Dermatology Residency Program with multiple training sites.
• Enrich the medical school dermatology curriculum with new faculty for didactics and clinical rotations.
• Incorporate dermatology rotations into the Internal Medicine Residency and Fellowship Program schedules.
• Establish co-specialty clinics such as dermatology-rheumatology.
• Mentor and guide COM's trainees and faculty.
• Provide leadership and service to the Department, College, and University.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited university.
• Board certified in dermatology.
• Three years of postgraduate clinical practice in an academic institution.
• Experience building, leading, or expanding a program, division, institute, or similar responsibility within an academic or academically affiliated organization.
• Experience in clinical practice administration, management, or related academic leadership.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated research and publication experience in dermatology.
• Experience in dermatology didactic or clinical instruction at the medical school level.
• Leadership experience as a director for a busy general dermatology practice.
• Experience in collaborations for the development of dermatology technology and research in the fields of optics and photonics.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: MD or DO degree, board certified in dermatology, three years of postgraduate clinical practice in an academic institution, previous experience building, leading, or expanding a program, division, institute, or similar responsibility within an academic or academically affiliated organization, experience in clinical practice administration, management, or related academic leadership, outstanding written and oral communication skills, scholarly background and experience commensurate with the faculty rank for which the application is submitted.
