Deputy Program Manager

About the role

The Deputy Program Manager supports the Program Manager in planning, executing, and tracking complex Sensor Beam programs involving advanced sensor technologies, multi-discipline engineering, rapid prototyping, and integrated system development. This role ensures engineering performance, quality, schedule, and technical risks are managed across domains such as Radar, EO/IR, Communications, Platform systems, Missiles, Air Defense Artillery (ADA), and technical library efforts for electronic warfare databases. The role involves overseeing multiple concurrent task orders and coordinating technical teams to meet program objectives.

Responsibilities

• Support the Program Manager by performing delegated duties, guiding managers and supervisors, and ensuring all Sensor Beam contract delivery requirements are met.
• Lead smaller programs and assist in managing multiple active task orders, including oversight of schedules, risks, action items, and performance against cost, schedule, and staffing objectives.
• Work closely with cross-functional department managers, supervisors, engineering teams, and support staff to maintain coordinated and effective program execution.
• Develop, maintain, and manage program schedules, budgets, and cost tracking using Staffer and Tempus for accurate and compliant reporting.
• Prepare program status reports, technical documents, and other artifacts to support internal leadership, external customers, and contractual requirements.
• Lead internal and external customer reviews, and participate in meetings to present program status, risks, and technical updates.
• Support proposal planning and execution, ensuring alignment with program processes, compliance, and quality standards.
• Apply program management capabilities, including organizational management, risk awareness, and business intelligence, to ensure efficient and mission-focused operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, business administration, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant experience, including 6+ years in program management or 4+ years in supervisor/technical lead roles with proposal and customer-facing experience.
• OR Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, business administration, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret clearance is required.
• Proficiency with Visio and Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project).
• Proven team player with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Provide customer-focused program support by translating technical database requirements into actionable plans and schedules.
• Demonstrate strong decision-making in fast-paced environments by assessing risks and evaluating technical tradeoffs.
• Deep technical expertise in the USELMS database, including data architecture, ingestion workflows, schema dependencies, and mission applications.
• Strong knowledge of the Combat Support Database (CSDB) data lifecycle, metadata structures, and integration with mission planning systems.
• Advanced understanding of the EWIR database, including emitter characterization frameworks and data validation requirements.
• Familiarity with contract requirements, CDRL management, risk registers, and technical baseline control for database system development.
• Collaborate with technical leads and developers to ensure database enhancements meet stakeholder needs and cybersecurity requirements.
• Communicate effectively with leadership and customers through program briefs and data-driven analysis.
• Operate with accountability and minimal supervision to meet technical and administrative standards.
• Represent the organization confidently as a primary point of contact for customers.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position based in San Antonio, TX is $129,000 to $168,000 annually. Actual salary will vary based on experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.

Schedule

Full-time salaried position with up to 10% travel required.
