About the role

The Deputy Chief of Professional Standards assists the Fire Chief in providing leadership and oversight of department operations, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous organizational improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Fire Chief in providing leadership and oversight of department operations, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous organizational improvement.
• Provides strategic direction for Emergency Medical Services, training and professional development, incident management systems, and internal compliance programs.
• Supports the department’s mission and service standards.
• Fulfills all duties and responsibilities of a firefighter as defined by the State of Minnesota.

Requirements

• Passion for public safety.
• Skilled in leadership.

• Must be a current certified firefighter in the State of Minnesota.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in fire service, including at least 5 years as a firefighter.
• Current certification as a Firefighter I and Fire Inspector II from the State of Minnesota.
• Experience in emergency medical services, training and professional development, incident management systems, and internal compliance programs.
