Deputy Division Director (DBH0BH0001-073126)

This is a Central Office position located in Jefferson City, with statewide travel required as needed.

About the role

This high-level administrative position reports directly to the DBH Division Director. The Deputy Division Director will act as the Division’s appointing authority, serve on the governing bodies for six state-operated psychiatric facilities, oversee outpatient Forensic Services programs, assist with DMH or DBH legislative proposals, and support systemwide policy and program implementation for community-based and facility-based programs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Sex Offender Rehabilitation Treatment Services Director, the Director of Forensic Services, and the Director of Competency Restoration, as well as other staff as needed.
• Act as the appointing authority for the DBH, handling employee grievances, hiring practices, salary adjustments, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
• Serve as a voting member on the governing bodies of the six state-operated psychiatric facilities.
• Review investigations related to abuse, neglect, or misuse of funds for the DBH.
• Assess significant operational or personnel issues, proposing solutions to the DBH Division Director.
• Assist with legislative and budgetary processes impacting the DBH.
• Collaborate with contracted community treatment providers and the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
• Maintain effective working relationships with legislators, community leaders, and other state agencies.
• Fulfill the duties of the Division Director during periods of unavailability or incapacitation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the DBH Division Director.

Qualifications

• BA degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Five or more years of experience in the management of behavioral health services.
• Experience and knowledge of inpatient and outpatient treatment settings, as well as federal and state funding mechanisms, are preferred.

Pay

Base salary up to $123,550.80 annually, commensurate with education and experience. If eligible for a pay differential (e.g., retention pay), the total salary may exceed this amount.
