About the role

The work involves responsibility for assisting in administering and directing countywide information technology (IT) activities. The incumbent assists in planning, directing and coordinating all county IT operations and activities, establishing IT policies, procedures and standards, and coordinating and administering IT contracts. The incumbent also either directly provides or assigns IT personnel to provide technical assistance and advice to county departments regarding the identification and solution of a variety of data processing and systems design and analysis problems. The work is performed under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate staff. Does related work as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering and directing countywide information technology (IT) activities
  • Assist in planning, directing and coordinating all county IT operations and activities
  • Establish IT policies, procedures and standards
  • Coordinate and administer IT contracts
  • Directly provide or assign IT personnel to provide technical assistance and advice to county departments
  • Identify and solve data processing and systems design and analysis problems
  • Exercise supervision over subordinate staff

Qualifications

Either:

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher including or supplemented by sixty (60) credit hours in information systems management, computer science, information technology or a closely related field and two (2) years of paid work experience in network administration or information systems administration; OR
  • Possession of an Associate's degree or higher including or supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours in coursework defined above and four (4) years of paid work experience in network administration or information systems management; OR
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency diploma and six (6) years of paid work experience in network administration or information systems management; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of the above options, or other experience that can demonstrate the ability to perform all duties.

Degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, applicant must provide independent verification of equivalency.

Pay

$87,363-116,280/YR (Management)
