Description
The Deputy County Clerk provides administrative support to the County Clerk’s office at the direction of the Chief Deputy County Clerk (Supervisor), and the St. Louis County Council and their staff. Responsibilities include preparing, recording, and filing official County Council documents, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, processing state certified notary applications, administering oaths, overseeing fees, and preparing reports.
- Prepare electronic documentation for the weekly County Council meeting.
- Provide administrative and research support for the Council, Administrative Director, County departments, and the public.
- Perform tasks requiring significant typing, proofreading, and transcription skills.
- Manage or assist with the repository of official County Council records.
- Accept service of subpoenas and summonses.
- Afford backup for other staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and three years of related experience.
- Proficient in using a laptop, electronic devices, Microsoft 365 Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Understanding of County government and/or legislative process a plus.
- Discretion and independent judgment within and external to County government.
- Attention to detail, ability to multitask, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong grammar, organizational, and proofreading skills.
- Transcribing experience is a plus.
