Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Depo Transcript Attorney to join our Workers' Compensation practice. This attorney will focus exclusively on the review of deposition transcripts in partnership with clients following each deposition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcript & File Review
    • Review deposition transcripts in detail upon completion of each deposition, identifying key testimony, discrepancies, and issues relevant to the case.
    • Cross-reference transcript content against the existing case file, medical records, and prior discovery to ensure the file reflects the most current and accurate information.
    • Update the case file promptly with any new facts, admissions, or developments uncovered during the deposition.
  • Client Discussion & Communication
    • Conduct post-deposition discussions with clients to walk through the transcript, explain its significance, and answer questions.
    • Communicate next steps and any impact on case strategy or value in clear, accessible terms.
    • Serve as a consistent, reliable point of contact for clients during the post-deposition phase of their case.
  • Caseload & Time Management
    • Maintain a steady, high-volume review queue.
    • Accurately track and enter billable time for all file review and client discussion activity in accordance with firm billing practices.
    • Flag any cases requiring escalation to the assigned trial attorney or additional legal team members.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the California State Bar, in good standing.
  • Strong knowledge of California workers' compensation law and deposition procedure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal information to clients in plain terms.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of files.
  • Accurate and timely billing/time-entry habits.

Preferred

  • Prior experience reviewing depositions or transcripts in a workers' compensation or civil litigation practice preferred but not required.
  • Experience with client-facing case discussions.
  • Familiarity with ALG internal case management and billing systems (or ability to learn quickly).
