Departmental Analyst 9-12 - Executive Office
About the Role
The Departmental Analyst serves as an analyst for the Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), developing reports and analyzing data for the Executive Office. This position reviews sensitive departmental or program issues and is routinely assigned special projects involving confidential and sensitive information.
Due to the specialized nature of the analytics performed, this individual consults with and provides advice to the Michigan State Police Gaming Section, the Attorney General’s office, Detroit casino executives, and other state, county, township, or city regulatory agencies. The role also acts as the organizational liaison for the MGCB by analyzing, providing comments, and establishing a record of necessary reports and documents for the Board, as well as compiling and maintaining documents both physically and electronically.
Responsibilities
- Develop complex reports and analyze data for the Executive Office.
- Review sensitive departmental or program issues.
- Research confidential and sensitive information for special projects.
- Serve as a recognized resource and point of contact for regulatory agencies, including the Michigan State Police Gaming Section, Attorney General’s office, and Detroit casino executives.
- Analyze, provide comments, and establish records of reports and documents required by the Board.
- Compile and maintain documents physically and electronically.
Requirements
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
- Professional experience requirements vary by level:
- Departmental Analyst 9: No specific experience required.
- Departmental Analyst 10: One year of professional experience.
- Departmental Analyst P11: Two years of professional experience, including one year equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
- Departmental Analyst 12: Three years of professional experience, including one year equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.
- Adherence to high ethical standards and conflict-of-interest policies.
- Successful completion of a personal reference screening, criminal background check, drug test, and federal/state tax transcript review, including fingerprinting.
- Passage of a pre-employment drug test within 24 hours of a conditional offer.
- Willingness to comply with remote work policies, including a minimum of two in-office days per week if approved for remote work.
Work Environment
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) is a state agency dedicated to ensuring fair and honest gaming. MGCB regulates multiple forms of gaming, including onsite sports betting, internet gaming, internet sports betting, fantasy sports, and mobile wagering for pari-mutuel horse racing.
MGCB’s main office is located at 3062 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit, MI, with satellite offices in Lansing and within Greektown Casino, MGM Grand – Detroit, and MotorCity Casino. Remote work may be approved based on operational needs, but all work must be completed within Michigan. Employees are responsible for providing their own secure, distraction-free workspace, high-speed internet (minimum 25 Mbps download/5 Mbps upload), and suitable office utilities.
