Department Support Representative

About the role
Performs administrative activities within established guidelines to support multiple department operations. Coordinates workflow to ensure smooth operation across departments.
The listed pay range reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ based on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).
Responsibilities
- Receives electronic diagnostic testing interpretations, including addendums from physicians, and ensures they are formatted and placed in the correct system within departmental timeframes.
- Monitors patient flow by greeting and checking in patients, verifying accurate scripts and information needed for testing, and facilitates corrections if needed.
- Schedules and confirms appointments as needed to maintain department flow; reschedules patients as required.
- Prepares and prints daily department schedules and medication reconciliation.
- If supporting the cardiology department, makes twice-daily hospital rounds to check/transfer studies on EKG machines and monitors event monitors on floors.
- Completes data gathering for corporate compliance.
- Orders, receives, picks up, and distributes supplies; manages dietary supplies for patients and coordinates housekeeping/linen needs.
- Verifies appropriate diagnosis code, places claims in EMR entering CPT, diagnosis, and supervising physician.
- Ensures all patient identification or demographic information is secure at all times.
- Monitors department(s) supply inventory and orders supplies as necessary.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of related experience; transcriptionist experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills.

- Lifting: Floor to waist: 15 lbs; Waist level and above: 10 lbs.
- Sensory requirements: Accurate near vision, accurate far vision, color discrimination, moderate depth perception, accurate hearing.
- Anticipated occupational exposure risks: Bloodborne pathogens, airborne communicable disease, dust/particulate matter.
Pay
Pay Range: $18.21 - $22.74 per hour.
Schedule
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 (full-time).
