POSITION DUTIES

You’ll work directly with Michigan residents to review their requests, check eligibility, and make sure their applications meet requirements. You’ll process a variety of transactions, answer questions, and help customers understand different services and online options.

DOS AIDE 6-E8 APPOINTMENT TYPE/BENEFITS

This position is Full-Time. Therefore, you would be eligible to participate in the benefits offered by the state.

WORK SCHEDULE

As a Full-Time position, the incumbent(s) will work a varied schedule of 40+ hours per week. Occasional travel may be required for relief assignments at other branch offices.

  • Branch Operations:
    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Required Education And Experience

  • Level 6 - No specific type or amount is required.
  • Level 7 - One year of experience equivalent to a Department of State Aide 6.
  • Level E8 - Two years of experience equivalent to a Department of State Aide, including one year equivalent to a Department State Aide 7.

Civil Service Commission Rule 2-7

Civil Service Commission Rule 2-7 requires that all newly hired state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to their actual appointment. Due to the nature of work of the Department of State, criminal records will be checked. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the criminal background record checks indicate eligibility for employment.

Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Enhancement (CMVSE) Act

The CMVSE Act and the requirements established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requires a nationwide criminal history background check prior to position appointment.

CDL Training Course

The incumbent will be required to successfully complete a formal CDL training course, and knowledge test prior to certification as a CDL Knowledge Test Examiner. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to pass refresher training and examination every four years.
