This role is all about helping people. You’ll work directly with Michigan residents to review their requests, check eligibility, and ensure their applications meet requirements. You’ll process a variety of transactions, answer questions, and help customers understand different services and online options. If you like working with people, staying organized, and getting things done accurately and on time, this job gives you a meaningful way to serve your community.

Responsibilities

  • Review resident requests and applications for eligibility.
  • Process transactions related to state services.
  • Answer customer questions and explain available services and online options.
  • Occasional travel may be required for relief assignments at other branch offices.

Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring availability during the following days and hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Work schedule consists of 40+ hours per week.

Requirements

Education

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

  • 6 Level: No specific type or amount is required.
  • 7 Level: One year of experience equivalent to a Department of State Aide 6.
  • E8 Level: Two years of experience equivalent to a Department of State Aide, including one year equivalent to a Department of State Aide 7.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and ongoing security checks as required by Public Act 7 of 2008 and Public Act 23 of 2008.
  • For CDL Knowledge Test Examiner designation (if applicable):
    • Must pass a nationwide criminal history background check.
    • Must complete a formal CDL training course and knowledge test prior to certification.
    • Must pass refresher training and examination every four years.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship is required, such as:
    • Original certified birth certificate issued by a government unit in the U.S. or U.S. territory.
    • Valid, unexpired U.S. passport.
    • Certificate of Citizenship (N-560 or N-561).
    • Certificate of Naturalization (N-550, N-570, or N-578).
  • Photo identification must be provided, and the name and date of birth on all documents must match exactly.
