Department of Philosophy Lecturer Pool 2026-2027
About the Role
The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Letters at San Diego State University is accepting applications for their part-time lecturer pool. Temporary appointments may be either full- or part-time and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, requiring availability on short notice.
Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, renewed contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Applications remain active in the pool for the academic year in which they are submitted.
Teaching opportunities are available during the Fall term (mid-August to late-December), Spring term (mid-January to mid-May), and potentially Summer Sessions.

Pay
Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211
