About the role
The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Adapted Physical Education (APE) and Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) at the assistant professor level, effective August 2027.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Kinesiology, including APE and PETE.
- Maintain a robust and ongoing research agenda.
- Mentor students at the undergraduate level.
- Advise students and perform career-related service roles on and off campus for the department, college, university, and professional societies.
- Lead activities that will advance scholarly excellence in Kinesiology.
Requirements
- Earned degrees in Kinesiology/Physical Education with APE and PETE specializations or related areas are required.
- Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
- Preferred qualifications include Adapted Physical Education specialization and college and K-12 teaching experience.
- An ability to develop a profile of extramural funding is also desirable.

- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
- Work effectively with faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Adapted Physical Education specialization as well as college and K-12 teaching experience.
- An ability to develop a profile of extramural funding.
Special Conditions
- The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
- Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB.
