About the Role

The Kinesiology Department at the University of Redlands is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 2027. The Kinesiology major is a new, rapidly growing program, and this position will support and expand the existing curriculum to meet increasing student interest. The ideal candidate is a dynamic teacher-scholar who will contribute to program development through excellence in teaching, undergraduate mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The successful candidate will teach courses for both majors and non-majors, mentor undergraduates in research and experiential learning, and engage in collaborative opportunities with neighboring institutions such as Loma Linda University Medical Center. Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in kinesiology for both majors and non-majors, including lecture and laboratory components.
• Mentor undergraduate students in research and experiential learning opportunities.
• Develop and sustain a productive undergraduate research program.
• Collaborate with faculty and students across disciplines and with neighboring institutions.
• Contribute to departmental and institutional service.
• Support student participation in high-impact practices such as undergraduate research, community service learning, internships, and study away.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in kinesiology, physical therapy, or a related field by August 2027. If the degree is not complete at the time of appointment, the candidate may begin as an instructor and convert to assistant professor upon completion within an agreed-upon timeframe.
• Demonstrated dedication to teaching in a liberal arts environment.
• Commitment to working effectively with students from diverse cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Broad training in exercise physiology, biomechanics, or related areas within kinesiology.
• Relevant clinical and/or professional experience.

Skills

• Ability to design and teach undergraduate-level kinesiology courses.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Capacity to foster collaborative learning and mentorship in a close-knit academic setting.

Pay

Salary range: $68,173–$77,175. Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification, commensurate with the candidate’s education, experience, skills, and training.
