About the Role

The Department of Counseling and School Psychology in the College of Education at San Diego State University is accepting applications for their part-time lecturer pool. Temporary appointments may be either full- or part-time and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, requiring availability on very short notice.

Opportunities exist for teaching in the following areas:

  • Counseling
  • Assessment
  • Clinical Supervision
  • Research Methods
  • Multiculturalism
  • Social Justice
  • Other Related Areas

The Fall term runs from mid-August to late-December, and the Spring term from mid-January to mid-May. Summer Session teaching opportunities may also be available. Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, renewable contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field
  • University teaching experience
  • Demonstrated currency in subject matter

Pay

Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:

  • Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
  • Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
  • Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
  • Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211

Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.
