2026-27 Lecturer Pool Department of Psychology (Counseling Psychology)

California State University, Bakersfield invites applications for the 2026-27 Lecturer Pool in the Department of Psychology, specifically for the Counseling Psychology MS Program. Positions are temporary and part-time, available for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

About the Role

The Department of Psychology accepts applications on an ongoing basis for part-time lecturers to fill short-term temporary positions. Appointments may range from one day to a full semester and are used to address instructional needs as they arise throughout the academic year. Applications for this pool are valid only for the 2026-2027 academic year and will close on May 31, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Teach graduate-level courses in the Counseling Psychology MS Program.
• Provide clinical supervision to master's-level counseling trainees or associates, adhering to California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) regulations.
• Deliver culturally responsive mental health services and instruction.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards in counseling and supervision.

Requirements

• Master's or doctoral degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related behavioral health discipline.
• Current and active California licensure in good standing as one of the following:
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Psychologist
• Meets all California BBS qualifications to supervise trainees and associates, including required supervision training and continuing education.
• Minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience providing psychotherapy and behavioral health services.
• Demonstrated knowledge of California BBS laws, regulations, legal and ethical standards, and supervision best practices.
• Experience providing culturally responsive mental health services to diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supervising master's-level counseling trainees or associates.
• Experience teaching graduate-level counseling courses.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and clinical documentation.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Expertise in specialty areas such as trauma, family therapy, child and adolescent counseling, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, assessment, or integrated behavioral health.

Pay

Lecturer positions are compensated on a part-time, prorated basis. Full-time equivalent salary ranges are as follows:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
• Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 per month
• Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 per month
• Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211 per month

Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check, including a criminal records check, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States. CSUB is not a sponsoring agency for temporary positions. All faculty must perform their work from within the State of California, and in-person duties require an on-campus presence.
