The Department Lead, Operations is a hands-on operational team member responsible for supporting daily production activities within an assigned functional area. This role serves as a working lead who helps coordinate workflows, provides floor-level guidance, supports training activities, and assists the Supervisor, Operations in achieving productivity, quality, safety, and customer service objectives. The Department Lead actively participates in operational work while serving as a resource for team members.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Execution
    • Perform daily production, processing, inventory, recycling, refurbishment, or logistics activities.
    • Assist with coordinating workflow and task assignments.
    • Monitor work progress and production goals.
    • Support material movement and inventory transactions.
    • Assist in troubleshooting routine operational issues.
  • Team Support & Coordination
    • Provide day-to-day guidance to team members.
    • Assist with onboarding and training.
    • Help ensure employees understand priorities and targets.
    • Promote teamwork and accountability.
  • Safety, Quality & Compliance
    • Follow and promote all company safety policies.
    • Monitor compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
    • Identify safety concerns and process deviations.
  • Leadership Responsibilities
    • Provide work direction and operational guidance.
    • Support training, coaching, and development.
    • Serve as backup during Supervisor absences.

Requirements

  • Skills & Abilities
    • Strong understanding of department operations.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead by example.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant operational experience.
    • Previous lead or trainer experience preferred.
