The Engineering & Technology Department within the Robert F. Cervenka School of Engineering, College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management invites qualified candidates to apply for our Department Assistant position.
Qualifications
- Minimum / Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Highly Desired/Preferred: Experience in an administrative and/or financial management position
- Experience in higher education
- Demonstrated commitment in establishing a positive work environment that embraces inclusion
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative assistance to the department chair, department members and students
- Serve as the departments’ financial manager
- Purchase supplies and equipment
- Act as office manager/lead worker
- Manage departmental offices and processes
- Auxiliary in curriculum management and entry
- Auxiliary in recruitments and hiring paperwork
- Auxiliary in instructor evaluations by students
- General computer/technical support for office functions
- Other related duties
Department Information
The R.F. Cervenka School of Engineering is comprised of the Engineering and Technology (E&T) Department which is one of eight departments in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management (CSTEMM). The department has approximately 40 full-time faculty and staff. The department provides courses for its well-established and accredited undergraduate programs in Computer & Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (B.S. and M.S.), Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Packaging, plus other programs throughout the University.

Additional Information: Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. A six-month probationary period is required. Minimum starting salary of $18.00/hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin-Stout does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. A successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment and for maintaining work authorization throughout the employment term.

Key Job Responsibilities: Coordinates projects and program components including, scheduling and logistics, unit workflow, and identifies areas for process improvements Develops, implements, and maintains methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to department operations according to established policies and procedures May provide operational guidance and training on day-to-day activities of student workers and program staff Serves as a primary point of contact for the department Monitors the department, unit or program budget and expenses, and may assist in the development of program budget and projections Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves problems regarding technical systems and programs related to department operations
