Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania, and Stafford.

The Dental Hygiene Department is currently seeking didactic and clinical adjunct professors for face-to-face teaching assignments in the following areas: Pharmacology and Dental Hygiene III. This role includes supervision of dental hygiene students during the provision of comprehensive dental hygiene care. Opportunities also exist for teaching didactic portions of the curriculum based on expertise in particular subjects.

Adjunct postings are pool postings; when there is a need, divisions pull from applicants who have applied to this position. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise dental hygiene students during the provision of comprehensive dental hygiene care.
• Teach didactic portions of the curriculum as needed, based on expertise.
• Complete special assignments as required.
• Assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
• Travel to college locations and various clinical locations in the area.

Requirements

• Registered Dental Hygienist with a Bachelor’s degree.
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching (training will be provided by the college).
• Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.

Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience.
• Work experience in the field.
• Experience with online teaching.
• Master’s of Science (preferred).

Pay

$961–$1,997 per credit hour. This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate’s academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Schedule

Part-time. Hours will vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability and scheduling needs.
