Dental Hygiene Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026)
About the Role
Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The Dental Hygiene Department is currently seeking didactic and clinical adjunct professors for face-to-face teaching assignments to serve in the following areas: Pharmacology and Dental Hygiene III. This role includes the supervision of dental hygiene students during the provision of comprehensive dental hygiene care. Roles in both programs include the opportunity for teaching didactic portions of the curriculum as expertise in particular subjects may be needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face teaching in didactic and clinical settings for Pharmacology and Dental Hygiene III courses
- Supervise dental hygiene students during the provision of comprehensive dental hygiene care
- Teach didactic portions of the curriculum as expertise in particular subjects may be needed
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor
Qualifications
- Registered Dental Hygienist with a Bachelor's degree
- Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching (will be provided by the college)
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools

- Prior teaching experience
- Work experience in the field
- Experience with online teaching
- Master's of Science
Schedule
Hours will vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability and scheduling needs.
Pay
$961–$1,997 per credit hour. This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate's academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.
Work Location & Travel
Work location is Orange, Virginia. You will be required to travel to some college locations and to various clinical locations in the area.
