About the role
The Demolition Superintendent at Independence Demolition is responsible for managing industrial and/or commercial demolition projects. Key responsibilities include assessing project needs, generating cost estimates, assisting the estimating department, preparing schedules, monitoring production, and performing project close-out activities.
Responsibilities
- Assisting estimating department with pre-bid planning, productions, and field experience related to upcoming projects as requested
- Assisting Project Manager in preparing a detailed schedule and maintaining schedule throughout the project
- Preparing work sequence with a detailed plan of attack utilizing work crews as efficiently as possible before mobilization
- Reading, understanding, and interpreting drawings and specifications
- Monitoring production, resource utilization, and overall job cost vs. estimated cost to maintain profit margin on projects
- Performing project close-out activities such as punch list coordination, furnishing as-built drawings, providing O & M manuals, and compiling final estimate/retainer billing
- Responsible for general and specific safety practices, following company safety manual procedures, and cooperating with our safety representative in a positive proactive manner
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Additional construction certifications or training preferred
- 5+ years of previous industrial demolition experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers as well as local government offices
- Ability to effectively manage union workforces
- Effective verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
