About the role
The Demand Planner will own the demand forecast across multiple product categories, connecting data, product strategy, customer behavior, and channel trends into a clear demand signal for the business. This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related field, with 3–5 years of experience in demand planning, merchandise planning, inventory planning, forecasting, or a related analytical planning function.
Responsibilities
- Own the demand forecast across multiple product categories, translating statistical forecasts, business trends, and commercial inputs into actionable plans.
- Lead weekly forecast reviews, identifying risks, opportunities, and key changes versus plan.
- Partner with Merchandising to understand launches, assortment shifts, lifecycle strategies, and category dynamics.
- Collaborate with Channel Planning to ensure demand forecasts align with channel-level sales and inventory plans.
- Work with Data Science to improve forecast accuracy by incorporating promotional activity, customer behavior, cannibalization risk, and other demand drivers.
- Support OTB and financial planning conversations by clearly communicating forecast changes, demand trends, and inventory implications.
- Analyze forecast performance, including forecast accuracy, bias, demand variability, inventory health, and trend versus plan.
- Present demand insights and recommendations to cross-functional partners with clarity and confidence.
- Support new product launches by evaluating historical analogs, launch plans, category trends, and channel expectations.
- Evolve demand planning tools, reporting, and processes as the business continues to scale.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of forecasting, inventory management, OTB planning, and retail financial metrics.
- Experience working with forecast accuracy, forecast bias, demand trends, and business-driven forecast adjustments.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and large data set analysis.
- Experience with planning systems such as o9, Blue Yonder, Anaplan, Relex, SAP IBP, Toolio, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into clear business recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple categories, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in demand planning, merchandise planning, inventory planning, forecasting, or a related analytical planning function.
