Responsibilities

• Perform various labor activities, including but not limited to:
  • Shoveling dirt or asphalt using short or long handle shovels
  • Cutting or trimming trees and vegetation using axes, ditch blades, sling blades, chainsaws, or power weed trimmers
  • Driving stakes or breaking pavement using sledgehammers
  • Digging holes using hand-operated post hole diggers
  • Operating hand-driven compaction devices
  • Brooming dirt and debris using hand brooms
• Work at one or more of the following locations: asphalt plants, existing roads or streets under traffic, new roads and streets without traffic, various building sites, and office or shop facilities.

• Ability to perform physical labor, including standing for long periods, lifting, climbing, shoveling, and working in hot conditions

Physical Demands

• Ability to perform physical labor, such as standing for long periods, lifting, climbing, shoveling, and working with agility in hot conditions
• Ability to climb onto and down from machinery multiple times a day
• Ability to sit in a machine and operate it for several hours without stopping
• Ability to withstand vibration from job site conditions and noise from equipment
• Use of arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions
• Perform manual duties
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Frequently required to stand and walk
• Occasionally required to sit
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals
• Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
