About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Paving Crew Laborer to join our road and sitework construction team. In this physically demanding position, you’ll assist with all aspects of asphalt paving, including preparing job sites, operating tools and equipment, and supporting the crew to ensure high-quality pavement installation. This role requires a strong work ethic, safety awareness, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with site prep, grading, and cleaning before paving
- Shovel, rake, and smooth asphalt materials during paving operations
- Operate basic construction tools and assist with equipment setup and cleanup
- Direct traffic and set up safety zones around job sites as needed
- Work alongside equipment operators to ensure smooth material flow
- Clean tools, trucks, and equipment at the end of each shift
- Follow directions from foreman and experienced crew members
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
- Offload the truck and gather tools for the day
- Transport rakes, lutes, shovels, and spray cans to the paver
- Sweep and clean the area in front of the paver
- Measure and line out the area for the day’s paving
- Transport water to the rollers, power broom, and plate compactor
- Assist the screed operator
- Maintain cleanliness and pack equipment away at the end of the day
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Prior construction or paving experience is preferred, but not required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physical labor in hot, outdoor conditions
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance are essential
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and ability to use PPE correctly
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
- Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area

Pay
