Deli Department Manager
About the role
Festival Foods is a Wisconsin-based grocer dedicated to community service and guest satisfaction. We operate over 40 full-service supermarkets across Wisconsin. This role is within our Deli Department, reporting to a Senior Fresh Manager.
Responsibilities
Lead and train deli associates, manage schedules, and support their professional development.
Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team performance.
Partner with HR to recruit and interview candidates, manage staffing levels, and implement onboarding and retention strategies.
Oversee deli labor goals, inventory management, and pricing accuracy.
Place orders with vendors for special and holiday items and maintain proper signage.
Address guest concerns, resolve issues, and ensure exceptional service.
Manage gross profit goals, shrink control, and ensure compliance with safety and company policies.
Prepare coaching sessions, performance reviews, and other documentation.
Ensure accurate timekeeping and attendance records for deli associates.
Support the team with additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent, with at least 5 years of leadership experience (including 2 years in a managerial role) preferred. Experience in retail, restaurant, or food service is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising, are necessary. A comprehensive knowledge of safety requirements and company policies is also required, along with the ability to apply safety training and operate equipment such as hand jacks, slicers, and fryers. A WI Certified Food Manager License is mandatory and will be provided by Festival Foods.
Qualifications
Physical demands include standing for long periods, bending, stooping, and kneeling. Lifting up to 50 pounds is frequent. Exposure to varying temperatures such as refrigerators, freezers, kitchens, and sales floors is common. The position requires regular weekend, weekday, and holiday work, with one night shift per week and one late night per month. Shift times may vary based on store needs.

Weekly Pay & Premium Pay: Hourly associates receive weekly pay with a $1 premium per hour on Sundays and select holidays. Full-time associates receive time and a half on Sundays and select holidays.

Pay
The starting salary range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a typical schedule including weekends, weekdays, and holidays. Shifts may vary based on store needs.
