About the role

This position is responsible for producing, executing, and delivering outstanding prepared foods in freshness, taste, quality, and presentation. The role involves assisting in all aspects of the deli, ensuring the team meets the high standards expected by Cosentino’s customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily, weekly, and seasonal menu items under the guidance of the department manager.
• Practice appropriate portion control and adhere to all safety, health, and sanitation guidelines.
• Enforce strict quality control measures for all deli products.
• Supervise and manage part-time cooks, promoting a positive team atmosphere.
• Train and communicate effectively with the team to ensure productivity and customer satisfaction.
• Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with Deli Programs and maintain accurate records.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by management, including supporting other stores or departments.

Requirements

• A food handling permit must be obtained within 14 days of employment.
• Completion of ongoing training and development as outlined in the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.
• One year of previous cooking experience in a deli, bakery, catering, or banquet operation.
• Six months experience in deli or food service production facility.
• A comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation guidelines.

Skills

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local food sanitation guidelines.
• Ability to operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and completely.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for customer and peer interactions.
• Basic math and reading skills required for the position.
