About the Role

This position is responsible for managing portfolio accounts in default statuses such as bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession, or deceased. It involves handling legal pleadings, analyzing documentation, and making decisions to mitigate risk to the Bank. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and sound decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Account Analysis: Analyzes documentation, account statements, maintenance, and other necessary information to determine the next appropriate step. Reviews system notes, loan histories, and relevant case information prior to initiating legal actions.
  • Account Management: Works a pipeline of accounts, completing tasks within required timeframes. Updates systems with detailed account notations, decides next steps, and passes accounts onto external attorneys, vendors, or other key contacts. Follows up to ensure timely completion and continuous monitoring of assigned account status.
  • Relationship Development: Builds and maintains strong relationships with managers, associates, vendors, and other key contacts involved in handling portfolio accounts.
  • Business Support: Performs additional tasks as needed to support department initiatives and projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, including knowledge of Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Probate, or Collections and Default regulations and laws.
  • OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, including knowledge of Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Probate, or Collections and Default regulations and laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal experience
  • Experience with CACS collection and recovery system, ALS, TSYS, FISERV, or other Bank/Host/Mainframe servicing systems
  • Proficiency in MS Suite
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and laws pertaining to collections, default, bankruptcy, and foreclosure
