Position Overview
The Deburrer - 2nd Shift position at Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is responsible for deburring complex parts, visually inspecting for defects, and maintaining manufacturing productivity and standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform repetitive manual deburring and polishing operations, ensuring quality compliance of all parts following customer specifications and internal drawings and procedures.
- Train more junior staff in deburrer procedures.
- Rework parts damaged during the manufacturing process.
- Follow control/process plan to determine which deburr tools to utilize.
- Read and follow process sketches or control plans.
- Debur parts outside of required parts (e.g., tops of bores, O.D. edges, Kingsbury slots, break edges on oil holes and counter bores, etc.).
- Inspect parts and ensure proper finish and/or flatness.
- Operate the coining press and drill press machines.
- Visually inspect parts to determine defects (e.g., machining operations, rust vs. heat-treat scale, etc.) and advise supervision of issues.
- Perform precision deburring inside parts (e.g., kidneys, undercuts, back of splines, c’bores, break edges on oil holes, burrs in oil holes and flanges of shoes, bearings, piston and rods, etc.).
- May perform assembly operations including leep plug, broaching, bearings, and helicoils.
- Maintain manufacturing productivity and safety standards.
Qualifications
- This position requires access to export-controlled information. Applicants must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, green card holder, refugee, or asylee).
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile distance of the N. Charleston, SC facility (zip code 29418).
- A minimum of 1 year of prior work experience is required.
- Prior experience in machining, deburring, honing, or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong visual inspection skills, strong time management skills, strong attention to detail, ability to perform basic shop math, mechanical aptitude, ability to learn equipment and processes for the fabrication of aerospace parts, and ability to maintain close tolerance dimensions on critical parts are required.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, procedures, and routers, and good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to logically solve problems and keep assignments and projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
