About the role
Equipment & Controls, Inc. (ECI) is an Emerson Impact Partner delivering process control and industrial automation solutions to oil and gas, chemical, power, food and beverage, mining and metals, life sciences, pulp and paper, refining, petrochemical, OEM and nuclear industries. The Field Service Engineer designs, installs, maintains, upgrades and supports customer systems, interfaces directly with clients, and participates in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.
Responsibilities
- Design, install, commission and maintain system networks in a Microsoft OS environment
- Perform general computer maintenance, diagnostics and data backups of workstations
- Provide Dell server and workstation hardware/software support
- Troubleshoot Distributed Control Systems (DCS) at network, workstation, controller and I/O levels to resolve customer issues efficiently
- Participate in a weeklong on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support to contract customers each month
- Conduct DCS preventative maintenance: voltage measurements, cleaning, patching and diagnostic checks
- Develop and maintain documentation, procedures and technical guides
Requirements
- Knowledge of MS Windows, Dell computers and basic Windows Active Directory
- Strong computer hardware troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with customers
- Ability to travel regionally (PA, OH, WV), sometimes overnight
- Ability to perform physical tasks: standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, overhead reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing/pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs; work in varying temperatures; drive extended distances
- Associate degree with 2+ years of relevant experience; BS in Engineering preferred
- Prior experience with DeltaV DCS preferred
- Prior experience with AMS Device Manager preferred
- Experience troubleshooting DCS or PLC hardware preferred
- Cybersecurity experience or CompTIA Security+ certification preferred
- Networking experience or CompTIA Network+ certification preferred
