About the role
Assist the distribution center manager in directing the day-to-day outbound operations of a single distribution center. Communicate extensively with the distribution center manager on all matters pertaining to the outbound operations of the DC.
Responsibilities
- Aid the DC manager in overseeing all outbound operations, including service, physical assets, operating costs, and team members.
- Maintain compliance with company operations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure payroll, budgeting, inventory integrity, productivity, and more of all outbound operations are managed.
- Provide training, guidance, and counseling to outbound team members as needed.
- Manage a staff of 1-15 supervisors and up to 300 hourly team members.
- Support the DC manager in establishing annual goals for all outbound departments and developing plans to achieve these goals.
- Work with the DC manager and human resources to support recruiting, hiring, and training practices for all outbound team members.
- Conduct on-time performance evaluations of all outbound team members.
- Aid the DC manager in preparing the annual operating budget.
- Monitor expenditures within the department and coordinate with the DC manager for approval on any expenditure.
- Obtain approval on all expenses exceeding $1,000.
- Create a safe working environment and manage risks and related costs.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and people skills
- Above average computer skills
- 2+ years' previous experience as a distribution center supervisor
- Proven ability to manage multiple departments within one distribution center
- Desired college degree or logistics certification
- Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
