DC/MM IT Support Technician

About the role

Under the direction of the Manager of Distribution Center and Manufacturing IT Support, provides exceptional technical support and enhancements to Menard, Inc. as part of the IT Support team.

Responsibilities

• Installs, modifies, and makes minor repairs to company IT hardware and software systems
• Provides technical assistance and training to system users
• Configures and installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives
• Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer
• Ensures consistent implementation of processes including installation of new or replacement equipment, de-installation of existing equipment, and initial testing processes
• Responds to Team Member inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems
• Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals
• Recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems and documents issues
• Coordinates activities with support desk, network services, or other information systems groups
• Replaces defective or inadequate software packages
• Performs monthly preventive maintenance on all IT equipment at supported locations
• Develops and implements ways to continuously improve support locations
• Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, team lead and/or Team Members
• Prepares paperwork to document work in progress, completed work, and other necessary tracking paperwork
• Routinely works aloft on ladders and scissor lift with hand tools and test sets
• Conducts routine inventory, warehouse, shipping, and receiving duties

Requirements

• A two-year Technical Degree or service experience in IT Hardware, Networking, Management Information Systems, Computer Repair, Computer Science, Information Technology Management
• Minimum of 2 years related experience including installation, repair, upgrading, and troubleshooting IT equipment
• Experience with computer hardware installation and troubleshooting for PCs, peripherals, and servers
• Experience with mobile technology such as smartphones and tablets is a plus
• Experience with various printer types (impact, inkjet, or laser) is a plus
• Network / Client-Server experience is preferred
• Some experience with configuring routers, switches and hubs is preferred

Skills

• Proficiency with Android, Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11
• Proficiency with Virtual Operating Systems
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Physical Demands

This position requires lifting up to 75 pounds for warehouse pickup and delivery duties. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform this function.

Other Requirements

A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required. Must be available to work Monday through Friday and the occasional weekend. Must carry a company provided cell phone during normal work hours.
