Day Shift Veterinary Technician - ICU

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay

Pay Range: $23.21 - $47.05 per hour. This pay band depends on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Competitive Shift Differentials:

• Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6p to 8a): +$4.00
• Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8a to 6p): +$4.00
• Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6p to 8a): +$5.50

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
