Responsibilities

  • Provide services and supports that enrich individuals’ lives, teach skills for community productivity, and promote independence.
  • Ensure Safety:
    • Supervise consumers closely during community outings, especially those lacking traffic safety skills.
    • Assist in conducting fire drills and replace smoke detector batteries.
    • Ensure seatbelts are worn in vehicles.
    • Report safety issues, potential problems, or suspicions of abuse.
    • Follow universal precautions and Bell’s exposure control plan.
  • Meet Consumers’ Needs:
    • Provide individualized support based on each consumer’s needs (e.g., hands-on assistance, supervision, or reminders).
    • Administer medications and assist with feeding, toileting, or transfers for individuals with physical limitations.
    • Teach skills to help individuals become active community members.
    • Implement intervention plans and assist with wheelchair transfers.
  • Communicate with Others:
    • Interact positively and professionally with consumers, families, and staff.
    • Accept instructions from supervisors and keep them informed of important information.
    • Participate in goal development and document charts/books accurately.
    • Report incidents, medication errors, and complete required paperwork timely.
    • Request time off (vacation/illness) from supervisors and file documents in consumer files.
  • Implement Regulatory Requirements:
    • Provide services in compliance with applicable regulations and report areas needing correction.
  • Align with Bell’s Philosophies:
    • Follow Bell’s Policy and Procedures Manual and philosophical beliefs (e.g., Person-Centered Planning, Positive Approaches, Normalization/Social Role Valorization, Everyday Lives).
    • Utilize behavioral psychology in service delivery.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Arrive to work on time and complete assigned tasks.
    • Submit accurate time sheets and provide advance notice for schedule changes or illness (minimum 2 hours).
    • Maintain facility cleanliness and show initiative in identifying tasks.
    • Offer varied experiences based on consumers’ interests and support their rights and choices.
    • Collaborate as part of the Multidisciplinary Team.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Day Program Supervisor.

Pay

$16.75 hourly wage.
