What You’ll Do

  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide and ensures a risk-free environment for all.
  • Aids in the planning and implementation of activities in accordance with the camp schedule, submitting written plans prior to each week or as assigned by Camp Director.
  • Maintains positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
  • Implements canoe curriculum in program spaces during the camp day.
  • Follows and maintains safety guidelines.
  • Actively participates in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned.
  • Safeguards expectations of the YMCA requirements/rations and helps others do the same.
  • Works collaboratively with Counselors for assigned group during activity time.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have prior experience in working with children in a camp environment.
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
  • Attends all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled.
  • Obtains and maintains all new hire certifications and trainings before first day of camp.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
