- Read both analog and digital micrometers
- Read blueprints
- Stock the machine
- Adjust tools to meet print specifications
- Grind own form tools (dovetail, circular form, shave, and cut-off form)
- Tap internal diameter threads
- Cut and roll threads
- Perform minor repairs
- Change feed fingers
- Change collets
