About The Role

The Senior/Staff Data Scientist at Zocdoc plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategic decisions through advanced analytics and experimentation. As a senior analytical leader, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Marketing, Sales, Revenue, Operations, Customer Experience, and Platform to address complex, ambiguous business challenges. Your primary responsibility will be to lead experimentation efforts, develop causal inference frameworks, and translate data insights into actionable recommendations that drive growth, monetization, and operational excellence. This role offers high visibility and the opportunity to influence key business strategies by applying rigorous analytical methods, developing scalable measurement approaches, and mentoring other data professionals. Success in this position is measured by your ability to provide clear, impactful insights that enable data-driven decision-making and foster a culture of analytical rigor across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Science, Product Analytics, Applied Analytics, or Experimentation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Economics, Physics, or related fields
  • Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field is a plus
  • Proven track record of solving high-impact, cross-functional business problems
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders across Product, Marketing, Revenue, Sales, Operations, or Customer Experience
  • Extensive experimentation experience at scale, including causal inference methodologies such as difference-in-differences, synthetic controls, propensity score methods, and Bayesian experimentation
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to analyze large, complex datasets
  • Familiarity with pricing, monetization analytics, growth and retention strategies, customer segmentation, marketing attribution, and operational analytics
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments such as consumer technology, SaaS, fintech, marketplace, or platform companies
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex data insights into clear recommendations
  • Humility and a collaborative mindset, committed to fostering an inclusive work environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead experimentation initiatives and develop analytical strategies across multiple teams including product, growth, monetization, and operations
  • Apply causal inference methodologies to real-world, often complex and messy business questions where traditional A/B testing may not be feasible
  • Partner with senior leaders to define cross-functional challenges and translate analytical findings into strategic recommendations
  • Enhance experimentation frameworks, metrics strategies, and analytical rigor, developing scalable measurement, segmentation, and forecasting approaches
  • Influence product roadmap prioritization and business strategies through rigorous analysis, clear communication of tradeoffs, and assessment of uncertainty
  • Mentor and upskill other data scientists and analysts on experimentation best practices, causal inference, and statistical methodologies
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Machine Learning teams to improve data instrumentation, infrastructure, and analytics tools
  • Integrate generative AI tools into workflows to automate tasks, foster innovation, and increase analytical productivity
