About the role
The Data Scientist will turn large and varied commercial datasets into actionable insights for leadership. They will model direct and syndicated views of the market, measure the impact of commercial programs, and provide clear reads on Juul’s competitive category. The Applied Scientist team is small but impactful, shaping critical decisions related to pricing, distribution, and investments.
Responsibilities
- Partner directly with commercial, finance, and executive stakeholders to transform business questions into actionable analytical problems
- Design and run rigorous experimental and quasi-experimental analyses to evaluate promotions and measure causal impact
- Architect and maintain large, complex commercial datasets using SQL and dbt on BigQuery, and build robust market-share and demand forecasting models
- Build predictive models and performance metrics that guide field operations
- Deploy LLMs and AI agents to classify unstructured commercial data and build internal tools to democratize data access
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and statistical foundation
- Experience with experimental design, causal inference, and the ability to distinguish between results and artifacts
- Fluency in Python for analysis (pandas and related ecosystem)
- Ability to connect data to commercial reality and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders
- Familiarity with AI tools to enhance productivity and build tools for others
- 5+ years of experience building analysis and models in industry
- PREFERRED: Experience with commercial, retail, CPG, or syndicated market data
- PREFERRED: Familiarity with Juul’s stack and broader modern data ecosystem
Personal and Professional Qualifications
- SQL expertise, with the ability to write correct, efficient, and maintainable models
- Strong analytical and statistical foundation
- Experience with experimental design, causal inference, and the ability to interpret results accurately
- Fluent in using AI tools to enhance productivity and build tools for others
- 5+ years of experience building analysis and models in industry
- PREFERRED: Experience with commercial, retail, CPG, or syndicated market data
- PREFERRED: Familiarity with Juul’s stack and broader modern data ecosystem
Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- PREFERRED: Master’s degree in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, math, computer science, or similar)

Salary Ranges
Salary varies by role, level, and location, and is dependent on the cost of labor in a given geographic region among other factors. These ranges may be modified at any time.
