Data Platform Administrator
About the role
The Data Platform Administrator supports the day-to-day health of Marvin's cloud data platform, focusing on the reliability, governance, and cost-effectiveness of data tools such as Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran. This role involves managing and monitoring the data platform across development, test, and production environments, as well as supporting analytics, reporting, and data pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor core components of the data platform in development, test, and production environments.
- Configure and maintain platform settings, ensuring performance, availability, and reliability.
- Administer Snowflake, including managing databases, warehouses, roles, access controls, and resource monitors.
- Tune warehouse sizing and scaling to balance performance and cost, collaborating with finance and platform stakeholders.
- Support the operational side of dbt and Fivetran, monitoring jobs and connectors, troubleshooting issues, and resolving pipeline failures or performance problems.
- Enforce role-based access controls, support audits and reviews, and ensure platform configurations align with enterprise policies.
- Collaborate with data and analytics partners, helping teams use the platform effectively, sharing best practices, and supporting BI and reporting workloads.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience supporting a modern cloud data platform in a production environment.
- A solid understanding of Snowflake fundamentals, including warehouses, databases, schemas, roles, and usage monitoring.
- Comfortable supporting tools like dbt and Fivetran from an operational standpoint.
- Experience with SQL and modern analytics tools, sufficient to support and troubleshoot platform usage.
- Working knowledge of BI and analytics tools, such as Power BI.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Experience supporting enterprise data warehouses or analytics platforms, especially in complex or manufacturing environments.
- Experience with ELT/ETL pipelines and data transformations using dbt or similar tools.
- Familiarity with modern data engineering practices like version control, code reviews, and environment promotion.
- Interest in growing into more hands-on data engineering and pipeline support work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2-4 years of experience supporting cloud data platforms or analytics ecosystems.

$92,000 - $121,000 annually
