Data Center Technician, Data Center Operations
About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. This role involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair, as well as participating in an on-call rotation. This position will require access to the GovCloud, restricted to U.S. Citizens.
Responsibilities
- Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds each
- Working in cramped and/or elevated locations
- Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
- Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely
- Working in an industrial environment
- Working shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (including nights, weekends, and holidays)
- Taking ownership of technical issues and driving resolution
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving at the root cause
- Maintaining service level agreements through proactive issue detection
- Improving effectiveness through process innovation
Requirements
- 2+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience, or related IT experience
- 2+ years of computer layer 1/2 networking (including troubleshooting and repair) experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
- U.S. Citizenship (required for GovCloud access)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix Administration
- Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering), or equivalent professional/military IT experience
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment
- Experience training and onboarding new team members

Pay
Base salary range: $30.91 - $54.18 USD hourly (location: Plain City, OH). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.

- Shift work including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations
