Data Center Operations Manager

About the role

The Infrastructure Delivery Manager will manage the implementation and delivery of inbound capacity and equipment. They will prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators, manage the installation of network and cabling infrastructure, guide, train, and educate staff, recommend and document policies and procedures, provide weekly reports, coordinate team resources, and drive compliance with Amazon's performance management requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators
• Manage inbound capacity from receiving through deployment stages
• Manage the installation network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment
• Guide, train, and educate staff on best practices related to service owner issues
• Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and SLAs
• Coordinate team resources for project and delivery needs, including emergency projects, change management, and maintenance window support
• Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels
• Host weekly staff meetings
• Drive compliance with Amazon performance management requirements

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in a data center technology role and/or 4+ years of knowledge in TCP/IP networking, network cabling, fiber, optic types, and test equipment. They should also have 4+ years of experience in a management/team lead function.

• Experience creating reports, interpreting metrics, and driving overall insights or analysis
• Experience in vendor management
• Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers
• Experience with automation or monitoring frameworks, deployment or development
• Experience with Lean or Six Sigma analytical techniques
• Experience developing operational metrics
• Experience with data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications: Experience creating reports, interpreting metrics and driving overall insights or analysis; Experience in vendor management; 4+ years of experience in a data center technology role and/or 4+ years of knowledge in TCP/IP networking, network cabling, fiber, optic types, and test equipment; 4+ years of experience in management/team lead function
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers; Experience in automation or monitoring frameworks, deployment or development; Experience with Lean or Six Sigma analytical techniques; Experience developing operational metrics; 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
