Data Center Network Deploy Technician, GND Deploy
About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.
As a Network Deploy Technician, you will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. You will collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with regular peer and customer interaction.
Responsibilities
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing systems and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
- Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
- Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking is completed for new equipment
- Participate in the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
- Travel within and outside of the regional work area as required
- Provide management and support of AWS’ vast network infrastructure, establish and follow best practices, and refine operational procedures
Requirements
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, Data Center Operations, or Technical Project Management, or similar technical roles
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, participate in primary responder rotation, and provide after-hours support as needed
- Work in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours a day
- Safely ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
- Industry standard certification (CompTIA, CCENT, or Network+), or experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Networking Engineering)
- 1+ years of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment experience, or experience in computer networking
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools)
- Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to infrastructure (i.e., network, data center, hardware, software)
- Knowledge of networking protocols, including HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP
